In the historical center of florence in '200, there were the houses of the Alighieri between the church of S.Martino and la Dei Donati square. In the first years of '900, the comune of Florence built the House of Dante in the place where Dante was born-according to the tradition.
Here you find the Museum Casa di Dante which is divided in three floors. On the first floor we find documentation regarding Florence of those years, Dante's youth, the public life and his priorship during which he took part in political and military divergences.
On the second floor we find documentation regarding the painful period of his exile (which began in 1301 when Dante was condemned). Dante lived his last years in Ravenna where he died in 1321.
On the third floor we find documentation regarding perfect reproductions of famous works of art realized in '300 and up to today, of famous artists sucm as Giotto, Andrea del Castagno, Il Ghirlandaio, Raffaello and Michelangelo.
